The title is based after the song from Kotoko, "Suppuration -Core-". Suppuration is an extremely gross concept by my interpretation. Basically it can be loosely described as an oozy wound, discharging pus. Title of choice when I have my Mewthree, Mewblade standing about, all cut up and dripping all over the place.

To be clear, it's not pus, it's blood. One of the mistakes I made was not really thinking about what a titanium composed skeleton would do in terms of blood products. Our blood is red because of iron oxide, it's the primary method of oxygen exchange. Bright red means more oxygen, more iron oxide. Titanium almost always is available as titanium oxide. We use it in everything possible from paint to toothpaste to give it a bold, white color. For Mewblade that technically would mean her blood would vary from a light grey, to a brilliant white. (Though let's assume that hers was made red so it wouldn't scare the living daylights out of people.) It makes for a really gross visual concept, and I wanted to always play with it.

Straight CG, since I'm kind of sick of playing with inks and such. Happy amounts of easy airbrushing, and I get the end result. The blood looks incredibly weird and out-of-place and I think Mewblade probably should have more of an expression at all, since that has to hurt. Maybe it's self-inflicted, she does that, so it could partially excuse that part. Strange contrasting image, but I need my surrealism from time to time.

Photoshop CS4.

Did she do that to herself?

Most likely.

She generally doesn't appreciate herself all that much, and sometimes she doesn't like herself either.

I see. She's got some self-loathing going on then?

Mewblade is more likely to loathe her duties than herself. Depending on timeline, she was using self mutilation as a distraction. Adult in some ways, a child in others, she's has had poor coping skills. If she's not bond to a specific timeframe, then it really would be a show of her indifference (and to prove a point to someone else), but either way, she would be doing it because she's in a foul mood, not technically because she loathes her body.

Less silvery than silver is. All blood is metallic to some extent, but it's never going to be shiny or anything.

That comment reminds me of that famous one line:

"If it bleeds, we can kill it."

I think that's either Predator or Alien 2...

Gah, this is why I hate the internet. I can't see people's faces when they see my horrible puns.

Meh. I'll remember the faces that my friends make when I pun near them... :iconwthplz:

Well, it looks like something put up a helluva fight... What attacked Mewblade?

Cool concept, though.

Presumably herself. She has a lot of sharp blades, since if she were blocking, commonly the back of the arms take more damage. Most people heavily guard their center line, and here it's center line, under arms and the neck that are damaged.

the white blood kind of reminds me of Android models in the anime Ghost in the shell. But the concept is really cool though but I distinctly remember her having red blood during the fight with deoxys in your older work "bloody tango" if my memory serves me right

They would have originally gotten that from the original Alien movie. The cyborgs in there have white blood.
I overlooked the titanium component in the first novel, and had to commit to red. White blood, while it would be accurate, is not canonical. She bleeds red and always will, but I'm going to indulge science this one time only.

Well, I guess I'll be the first to comment. Aside from me losing my appetite a bit, the shading, ripples, and blood/puss are very well done. It really draws in the viewers attention to every aspect of the image.

The description is so misleading in the first paragraph that it is bound to nauseate a few people. It's blood though.

Heh, it worked on me.
The blood colour is also a very unique feature that I didn't think of. But with the amount of iron she has inside of her, it would make sense that the blood wouldn't exactly be red.

Mewblade doesn't really have much iron at all with the exception of the diamond part of her blades (lots and lots of carbon, but the red tint is because of an iron impurity). Her skeleton is titanium, so her marrow is titanium-based. The red blood is a massive typo that I've had to accept as a honest mistake.
