Got around to coloring the lined version of the image [link]
while I have some time in-between commissions. It never is a lot of time, but I also don't need much to complete simpler images as such. While I liked the lines of the original, and still do, I can never pass on making eyes. Something about them is captivating.
Character in the middle is my Mewthree, Mewblade. She's a Legendary and only sleeps if she's dead, which is mostly what she is afraid of. Her four siblings Swadeaqua (top-left), Vicebane (top-right), Harddense (bottom-left), and Demisewan (bottom-right) were are killed by her, and for whatever reason each of their most vile of personality traits represents, she does not particularly ever want to see them again.
I always enjoyed playing with deadly sin and heavenly virtue designs, if only because I'm quite the conventional type. The idea of Sins is being caught up in something that distances your relationship between yourself and God. Pride is self-absorption (what God? I am God!). Something like Greed is material focus, when ones focus should be on the non-material gifts of the Creator. Sloth is pure apathy (I don't care to pray, go to church, or waste my mental or physical efforts in devotion to God). Seems a bit cruel, but I've always treated Harddense's attitude of, "I give up, I don't care anymore," as a massive personality flaw hence, the Sloth association. The rest seem to more or less go with the flow of how crazy I potentially see them as, even Mewblade and her often irrational fear that her dead siblings are going to come back and haunt her. Love doing such images, since it's exactly what expressions are for.
